The English Summer Course is a 4 week learning initiative designed for students to improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Students developed these skills in a practical manner throughout the course while honing in on specific “Micro-cultures” within the English speaking world, Europe and Asia. Throughout the course students kept a record of their discoveries in a journal. The summer course included cultural outings, international guest speakers and individual/group discussions and exercises. Students were able to build on their existing English foundation and acquire new vocabulary and other skills from authentic spoken and written discourse from print media (such as newspapers, magazines, and literature) in addition to multimedia channels (such as websites, films, and radio/TV programs).
