The English Summer Course is a 4 week learning initiative designed for students to improve their written, verbal, listening and reading skills. Students will develop these skills in a practical manner throughout the course while honing in on specific “Micro cultures” within the American landscape and on an international scale. Throughout the course students will keep record of their discovery in a journal, where they will write reflections, write in response to prompts and do free writing. The summer course will include cultural outings, international guest speakers and individual/group discussions and exercises. Students will be able to build on their existing English foundation and acquire new vocabulary and other skills from authentic spoken and written discourse from print media (such as newspapers, magazines, and literature) in addition to multimedia channels (such as websites, films, and radio/TV programs).
