Kaitlyn Johnston will be joining Hang Seng Management College as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant for the 2014-2015 academic year. The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program is a program administered by the United States Department of State that sends recent college graduate and young professionals to teach English in schools and universities across the world. The goal is to improve foreign students’ English language ability and knowledge of the United States while increasing the English Teaching Assistants’ knowledge of the host country and local language. Ms. Johnston is excited and honored to be working at Hang Seng Management College as she greatly enjoys teaching English and having conversations with students.
Kaitlyn Johnston is a recent graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, USA where she earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Communication Sciences and Disorders, a degree focused on typical and atypical speech and language development. Kaitlyn was born and raised in the sunny state of Florida near Disney World, and she likes the weather in both Florida and Hong Kong as the weather is very similar. Kaitlyn enjoys talking with friends, reading legal thrillers, eating ice cream, learning new languages, and drinking iced lemon tea. Ms. Johnston’s academic research focuses on phonology, orthography, and dyslexia. She has previously taught public speaking courses at the primary and secondary level as well as phonetics at the university level. She has also instructed adult English language courses to non-native speakers. At Hang Seng Management College, she will be working in the English Language Centre, hosting language and cultural events, and assisting in English language classrooms.
Kaitlyn will be on campus at HSMC in the ELC on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 10:30AM until 5:00PM. She will start hosting different events on the week of September 29th, and she will be hosting more events in the coming weeks on the majority of Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
